Selecting The Right Painting Contractor
Painting is among the home improvement processes that are gaining popularity. It doesn’t matter how large or small the project is, hiring professional painting company will always save time and hustle. Hiring the best company that can deliver the best results for your project can be a hard exercise. As consumers, we all want the best value in exchange for our hard earned money. The dilemma is that the cheapest painting estimate is not necessarily the best value.
Before choosing a contractor who meets your needs, consider the following.
How long has the contractor been in business. An experienced contractor is one with two or more years actively in the field of expertise. An expert in the field of painting will give references on the best ingredients to be used, and that will work best with your project. An experienced contractor is always aware of the latest products and methods in the market. The contractor always knows the colors that suit you and the latest technology available in their field of practice. Consider the previous similar jobs before deciding to hire.
Consider if the contractor has employees or subcontractors. If they are subcontractors, the workers should have compensation and general liability insurance policies covering them. It is a mandate that the contractor ensures both the employees and company against any liability and provide proof of the same. The workers should be competent and efficient in their duty to deliver well.
The contractor should have a state-issued license to operate in the field. It is important that the contractor has indemnity covers and legal permit of operation. A reputable, licensed and insured contractor will have all the proper documents, this protects them and any workers they have on site as well as your home. Confirm that the license provided by the contractor is credible and honest so as not to end up with a fraudulent person or company.
Formal Estimate. A written agreement contains the estimates of the project concerning the materials to be used and preparations to be made. A painting company is required to provide a written agreement to the customer. The contract also gives the time approximated the project will take.
Amount of money to be used. Price is naturally a concern. Getting the lowest price should not be your only consideration. You want to get someone with skills, experience, who is properly licensed and insured, are of safety issues and is a good worker. That will not likely be the individual with the lowest bid. Make sure not to hire based on price but look at the whole picture.
Always get at least three bids. Make a comparison of the three contractors’ proposals and put all points into consideration then choose one.
